EXPERT NEENA CHAUDHRY'S VIEW OF TITLE IX
Neena Chaudhry works at the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), and was interviewed about Title IX. The most important information gained from the interview is as follows:
Question:
"Generally speaking, what portion of the country would you expect is in compliance with Title IX?"
Answer:
There really is no way of knowing what portion of the country is in compliance, the Department of Education does take certain random data samples to look for trends, however they do not have information from all of the schools in the country, which would be required to answer this question.
Question:
"Many people believe that Title IX is hurting men's sports programs. Would you agree with this statement?"
Answer:
No. There is data proving this statement incorrect, men's programs are growing. Some schools find themselves faced with budget issues, and may have to cut a team, and then this is blamed on Title IX. It is falsely accused of being the source of these issues.
